Core Return Policy
Many products sold by CATA Electronics are offered on an exchange basis, meaning a rebuildable core must be returned after purchase. This Core Return Policy outlines the requirements and process for returning cores and receiving applicable core credits.
What Is a Core?
A core is the original engine control module (ECM) that is removed from your equipment and returned to CATA Electronics after receiving a replacement module.
Returned cores allow us to continue rebuilding and supplying remanufactured modules for future customers.
Core Return Options
Customers typically have two core return options when placing an order:
Send Core First
Customers may send their rebuildable core before shipment to avoid paying the core charge.
Pay Core Charge
Customers may pay the refundable core charge at checkout and receive their replacement module immediately. The core charge will be refunded once the rebuildable core is returned and approved.
Core Return Timeframe
Returned cores must be received within 30 days of the order delivery date unless otherwise arranged with our team.
Cores returned after this timeframe may not qualify for a refund of the core charge.
Core Condition Requirements
To qualify for core credit, returned modules must be:
-Complete and assembled
-In rebuildable condition
-Free of severe physical damage
-Not previously disassembled or tampered with
Cores may be rejected if they show:
-Fire damage
-Severe corrosion or water intrusion
-Missing major components
-Physical destruction of the housing or connectors
CATA Electronics reserves the right to inspect all returned cores and determine eligibility for core credit.
Core Inspection Process
All returned cores are inspected upon arrival. Once approved, the applicable core credit will be issued to the original payment method used at checkout.
Inspection and refund processing typically occur within 5–10 business days after receipt.
Packaging and Shipping Core Returns
Customers are responsible for properly packaging returned cores to prevent shipping damage.
We recommend:
-Using the original packaging when possible
-Protecting connectors and exposed pins
-Securing the module to prevent movement during transit
CATA Electronics is not responsible for cores damaged during return shipping due to inadequate packaging.
Non-Rebuildable Cores
If a returned core does not meet rebuildable condition requirements, the core credit may be denied.
If this occurs, customers may request the core to be returned at their expense.
